The Victorian Network of Smokefree Healthcare Services was established in 2011 by four foundation members to support the efforts of health services and to champion this cause at government and stakeholder level:
Since then, the Network has expanded significantly to involve 31 Victorian healthcare services. Members represent metropolitan and regional / rural based services, as well as general and specialised services within acute and community settings. Both public and private services are also represented.
One of the benefits of membership is having the opportunity to achieve recognition for performance in relation to the Global Standards through the process of self-audit. Members who submit a self-audit report to the Coordinating Centre are recognised according to the level achieved (see below). To achieve GOLD FORUM status, member performance must be validated locally in Victoria before making an application to the Global Network.
